I have 2 scars that I'm actually quite proud of.


#1 I have a scar down the middle of my chest from open -heart surgery that I had when I was only 2 1/2 years old. Every day when I see that scar, I remember just how lucky I am to be here and that life is indeed precious.


#2 I have the scar from my C-section. I was in labor for 38 hours w/my son when things all of a sudden took a turn for the worst and they had to take him out ASAP. I was terrified at the time. Now, when I see that scar, I think of my beautiful son and the great blessings that he has given to me in the 3 years he has been on this earth.

First cast that was made wasn't done correctly and my bones joined in a crooked form. Doctors told my parents that I would have to live with that. My mom snatched the cricket bat my younger brother took with him to the hospital and told the doctor, ';Fix my son's arm or else...';. Hospital staff had a hard time keeping my mom calm. I guess, doctors realized he important I was to my mom and they did the needful to re-align the broken bone.

Yes it does work, but be patient to see results, put it on before bed. I use pure lemon juice by Sicilia . It's in a small yellow bottle with a green cap in your produce section by the lemons. Apply with a cotton ball or use real lemons.Does anyone know about lemon juice and acne scars?
I really don't think it will help. I would try something with retin-A in it and use it every night before bed. Don't use it while you're out in the sun or you'll get burned! Also do an at-home facial peel once every week to two weeks. Good luck!

I know that lemon juice mixed with water and sprayed onto hair lightens hair. However, never heard anything about acne scars.
I think the lemon juice has citric acid in it, which will help minimize scarring. However, this will take years. Many people in the Mediterranean used to use lemons or orange juices on their skin for this reason. There is also a cream in the stores that you can buy, which contains citric acid. I can't remember its name, but it has a green cap. Good luck!

its red because the skin has been irritated. try cooling it with a spoon thats been in the fridge for a few hours. do this three to four times a day.

Medical microdermabrasion would help. If you've got the cash then laser resurfacing would definitely work. I had Erbium laser resurfacing 6 months ago for some very deep acne pits and they've raised up by 60%. I'm about to have another treatment in December. The Erbium is quite a severe form of laser (you look like Freddie Krueger for a week or so), but there's less aggressive laser treatments for acne you can try. I would recommend going to a dermatologist and/or cosmetic surgeon rather than a beauty salon. Good luck. Living with the scars isn't easy, I know.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but you CANNOT get rid of scars by applying oil. There are some other over the counter medication for scars, but I don't recommend any of them. Talk to a dermetologist. They have a varitey treatments avalible.

I used Proactiv for a long time and it worked pretty well to clear up my skin, but it didn't really help the scars. Now I use it in conjunction with Retin A, a cream my doctor prescribed. It encourages your skin to heal and helps scars fade. I hear Accutane works well but its pretty strong, so Retin A might be a good alternative, although its not a permanent solution like Accutane is.
For the scars, I recommend keeping them away from the sun. Sun + scars = darker scars for longer. Plus, staying out of the sun will keep you from looking like a prune when you're older and all that...





For the acne, have you tried something with salicylic acid? It's cheaper than trying a prescription drug like Accutane, and it certainly can help keep pimples at bay.

The best way is to eat healthy - cut down on junk food and eat lots of fruits and vegetables and water. As for the the scars, using a face scrub or masks can help, as well as getting some sun. It just takes time.

Go to a dermatologist. Honestly- best thing I ever did. They will help you get the best skin you can have. I started out with a system of pills and creams, which didn't help me. Then I was put on Accutane. Accutane is way serious and some people have difficulties while on it. I have perfect skin now because of it.





Once you no longer get acne, they will help you get rid of scars.

Yes, depending on how bad the injury was. I had a scar on my back that i had to get 6 stiches in about 4 years ago, and it might take some time, but it is almost completely gone, i can barely see it. If it is something you are really worried about there is a scar reducing medicine called mederma. Rub that on them and it will reduce the look of your scar in just a few weeks. Good Luck.

Try vitamin E cream. Scars are permanent unfortunately. Once the skin is gone down that deep its permanent. There is surgery to cut out the scar and make it thinner but thats expensive.

well depending on the severeness of the scars, I would probably assume they were from cuts and scrapes from them falling. If they look like severe scars that you know isn't possible to get from falling, then I would question them. Or wait til' a new cut appears and ask my child where they came from. I'm sure they're just from falling though, kids do it all the time! My 1 year old has already gotten 2 scars on her from falling on the concrete once at her birthday party, and the other one was a few months ago. Just keep an eye out, if anything looks suspicous, ask your kids.
You need more details. How old is the child? If it's a teenager (and I'm the mom in this scenario) I would assume it was self-inflicted. If it was a young child, I would think it was from a normal fall that all kids have....but, I'm sure I would remember such a fall, that would leave a scar a year later. If my young child was in day care, or under someone else's supervision, and I couldn't recall an instance where they would have had a big fall a year ago, I would be very suspicious.





EDIT: For a 17 yr old, again, I would assume it was self-inflicted. As a parent, I would confront the teen, leaving no room for lies, by saying, ';I saw what you did to your arm and we need to talk about it. If now is not a good time, or you need some time to think, we'll talk later tonight.';
If they are straight cuts that happen in rows, or some kind of pattern, then it would be safe to assume that something is wrong with the child, i.e cutting. If they are hiding them, that is even more reason to conclude that their is an issue.





I would speak to them and see if they have thoughts about hurting themselves. Check their legs as well, the thigh is usually the place they go if they are afraid of getting caught.
It depends on if they are old or brand new. A lot of kids cut themselves now as a depression type punishment situation in which they do not understand or can handle mentally or physically issues.

If their new scars, Counseling is in order.
Are they deliberate? As in self-mutilation? If yes, I'd get them help and confront them about it.

If they're just normal scars from careless kids stuff (sports, rough play, et cetera), then it's no issue. It happens; if someone comes out of childhood without those scars, it's a sure sign to me that they probably had a very boring childhood =P
There is definitely a problem here. Either she is doing it to be cool, which is a major problem within its self, or she is having emotional issues and is using pain to deal with them. You need to talk to your daughter and find out what's going on. Hopefully she isn't self-destructive anymore.

the reason that these ';wonder creams'; work for reducing visibility of scars is the massaging of the lotion into your skin. massaging the scars breaks up the scar tissue and helps it to eventually reduce over time. yes, the vitamin e probably helps,but you're really paying for an excuse to massage the scar. they don't tell you that, because they want your money.

I learned a technique from a occupational therapist that has help me lose a old, wrinkled scar from a terrible surgery. It takes some time, and you will see the scar tissue come out in pimple like bumps. You lay your finger on the scar in the same direction the scar runs. Scar tissue is kind of like spagetti, it adhears in all different directions, and by rubbing it in one direction, you will cause the scar tissues to line up and become flat. I would wait until you are able to afford a more expensive treatment to actually take care of it. My friend had major acne scars and waited until she was 26 before being able to afford microdermabrasion at the dermatoligist. I know they sell at home kits but they probably don't work nearly as well and I doubt they are really worth the money. Her face looks soooooo good now and it took maybe 3 months worth of treatments and healing for it to go from pitted scars to smooth. JC Penney and Macys also sell a makeup which covers/fills in acne scars or other facial blemishes so if it bothers you then you could just use makeup like that. There is really no home remedy for scars. There is the over the counter scar remover that you can buy at the drug store...like Mederma I think...but I do not think that works very well. There are some at home chemical peels (usually used for wrinkles) but they don't even work for wrinkles really (trust me, I've tried 'em...:)...), so I don't think they would work for your scars. Go to a medical spa and get microdermabrasion or laser treatments, which both remove top layer of skin. Can help by making considerably less apparent. Also, lotions for scarring and strech marks might help. There is one with emu oil that works great its sold at wal mart.
I have this problem, except I'm light-skinned (as in white). That all sounds like good advice for someone else, but something you might try for a while is to cut back on the creams, lotions, and make-ups and to dry your face after getting out of the shower. It most likely won't go away in one day, but after a month you might be suprized how good you look.

I've head that bio oil is good but my family use Oxy on the spot. Apparently this helps to remove spot marks. I haven't tried because i believe in letting spots and marks to go naturally or use natural/herbal ingredients.
you need a really gentle exfoliator and bio-oil, use both daily.
I would recommend what I keep using to make my spot scars invisible, its zenmed's scars and hyperpigmentation treatment kit. I'm very satisfied with its effectiveness and quick time it takes in making scars (no matter how dark they are) invisible in a short period.

i used to, when i was in my down stage id cut myself and carve things into my arms and leg, usually about what ever put me down that far to do something like that. It helped me feel out what was in my head making me feel that way, it gave em the ability to address the problem because i could see it. Because of it I used to get a lot of looks and brought into the office at school for random checks of person and locker space for drug paraphernalia. Raised scars are actually called hypertrophic scars. You are correct that Mederma does not work. Most designer scar products are pure BS. The suggestion of lemon juice is the best answer yet since it contains citric acid, but there are a lot of other natural products that work as well or better.

It's an ointment that you can find at almost any drugstore, and it's recommended a lot by doctors to patients with scars. well its sortah simple...if u want 2 go to ure doctor u can or u can try products from the drugstore. for ure blackheads i suggest u wash ure face really well and use stuff like ''clearisil blackhead cleanser''. N 4 ure scars u can simply go 2 the drugstore and find lotions that r able to treat scars for ex: if u had a cut u wuld use neosporin right?...right cuz it wuld help it the best person to ask this is ure docter.
You need to use sunscreen to protect the scars from getting any worse. The blackheads can be removed with a special tool specifically designed to remove them, which you can get at a drugstore. Wash the sunscreen off your face every night to prevent further breakouts.
Take it from me, kid, go to a dermatologist. You will regret it if you don't take care of this now! Later may be too late. A good dermatologist can help you prevent future (and often permanent!) scarring.





I've tried pro activ and it seems I'm the only one who won't use it anymore. It worked for awhile but then it started to work against my skin so I stopped.
